Almost 300 Receive Degrees at Graduate Commencement; Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership Graduates First Class
The sun enveloped the 淫性视频 campus in a warm, yellow glow for the Master鈥檚 and Doctoral Commencement Ceremony in the Sports Center on May 7, where nearly 300 students received graduate degrees.
鈥淔ight for yourself, fight for your dreams, fight for your communities, and fight for those who cannot fight for themselves,鈥 President Harvey Kesselman said during the ceremony. 鈥淭hese are the qualities of a leader who embodies both strength and grace, and from one Osprey to another, I know you have it in you. Congratulations, Class of 2019! Now go out there and start living your best life!鈥
This year, the first cohort of 21 graduates (pictured below) of the doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership received their degrees.
On April 24, more than 80 graduates presented their research in the Spring Graduate Research Symposium, which filled the Campus Center Event Room.

Scholarship Gala Raises Over $450,000
More than 600 people supported 淫性视频鈥檚 39th Annual Scholarship Benefit Gala at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on May 4. Along with sponsorships and donations, the event raised over $450,000.

The Office of the Secretary of Higher Education announced this week the members of the five working groups established by the Gov. Phil Murphy to implement the Strategic Plan for Higher Education. Several 淫性视频 faculty, staff and administrators were selected to serve through a formal application process. Hospitality and Tourism Program Thanks Internship Partners
Internships are a crucial part of 淫性视频鈥檚 Hospitality and Tourism Management Studies program, providing students with on-the-job training and an introduction to future careers.

during a breakfast at the 淫性视频 Atlantic City Academic Center at which they also introduced plans
for the next academic year.
Summer Shuttle Schedule
The Atlantic City shuttles are operating on a reduced schedule this summer. The weekday and weekend shuttle departure times for both Galloway and Atlantic City will be as follows: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m., 8:45 a.m., 10 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:45 p.m., 3 p.m., 4:15 p.m., and 5:45 p.m.; and Saturday-Sunday, 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. In addition, the shuttles will not operate on Memorial Day (Monday, May 27) or Independence Day (Thursday, July 4).

Student Shilo Previti Receives Staller Award
Shilo Previti is more than just head tutor at the 淫性视频 Writing Center.
鈥淪he not only is an excellent tutor,鈥 said Pam Cross, coordinator of the Writing Center, 鈥渂ut she goes above and beyond for her students; helping them figure out financial aid and taxes, and even driving them to the doctor when they鈥檙e in need.鈥
Her dedication to her students earned Previti the Paul D. Staller 鈥97 Writing Center Endowed Fund Award this year. Staller鈥檚 parents, Billie and Alan, and his sister, Laurie, visited the Galloway campus to honor and meet Previti at the center.
淫性视频 Twin Sisters Receive Citizenship at Naturalization Ceremony
Two current 淫性视频 students, freshman twin sisters Marina and Mariam Eskander from Egg Harbor Township, received citizenship at the third Naturalization Ceremony hosted by the 淫性视频 Center for Community Engagement on Wednesday, May 8, along with their mother, Manar Eskander. They were two of 28 from 20 different countries who also received citizenship at the ceremony.
鈥淚 am happy to have the privilege of witnessing freedom in action,鈥 said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Lori Vermeulen during her opening remarks. 鈥淎ll of you are welcome here, and you are now members of the 淫性视频 family. 淫性视频 Students Discuss Speech, Language and Literacy with Pleasantville Parents
淫性视频 Speech-Language Pathology students in the SLP in the Schools course and Master of Science in Communication Disorders-Hispanic Emphasis Specialization (HES) students along with Phillip Hern谩ndez, assistant professor of Communication Disorders, presented a workshop, 鈥淲hat Families Need to Know about Speech and Language Development,鈥 on April 19 at the Pleasantville Early Childhood Program in Pleasantville.
The workshop was for parents and focused on speech and language developmental milestones; speech and language 鈥渞ed flags;鈥 bilingualism; Spanish speech sound and language development; and emphasized the importance of parent and teacher collaboration. Literacy (reading) developmental milestones and activities were also provided to parents, as well as hands-on activities, demonstrations and speech-language information handouts (English/Spanish).
At the end of the workshop, the families were given books donated by the students to take home to practice the speech, language and literacy activities that were demonstrated.
鈥淭he feedback provided by the parents and administrators was overwhelmingly positive,鈥 Hern谩ndez said.
鈥淚 thoroughly enjoyed this experience. I appreciate being able to be a part of the community and share awareness to parents. I look forward to more experiences like this one,鈥 student Kaleigh Haar said.
鈥淚t was amazing to see how much the parents enjoyed our presentation and it was evident they were going to utilize the information they learned at home,鈥 student Ashlee Moran said. 鈥淥verall, this was an amazing experience and I believe that every graduate student should take the opportunity to take part in a parent workshop while in graduate school.鈥
Both Haar and Moran are first-year second semester graduate students in the M.S. Communication Disorders Program.
鈥淚t is the goal of the MSCD program to continue to build a working relationship with the parents, teachers and administrators at the Pleasantville Early Childhood Program,鈥 Hern谩ndez concluded.

Christina Jackson (pictured), assistant professor of Sociology at 淫性视频, recently o-authored 鈥淓mbodied Difference: Divergent Bodies in Public Discourse鈥 with Jamie Thomas of Swarthmore College. The volume was published by Lexington Inc. in March and examines marginalization and normalization with a focus on the body across public arenas.

Students Showcase Science, Math Research at Symposium
More than 50 students shared their research projects at the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NAMS) Symposium on April 23 in the C-D Atrium.
鈥淭he symposium showcases the many opportunities students at 淫性视频 have to do undergraduate
research with faculty,鈥 NAMS Dean Peter Straub said. 鈥淚t also gives them the opportunity share that work with their peers.鈥
He said the work was done both at 淫性视频 and at internship sites and gave students
a capstone project they can use if they apply to graduate school.

Summer Hours Begin May 13
The summer work schedule will begin the week of Monday, May 13, through the week of Monday, Aug.12. The University will remain open on Fridays, but employees do have the option of a four-day workweek. Hours of operation for the University during this time will be 8 a.m.-5:15 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The University will be closed in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 27 and follow a normal academic year work schedule for that week, open May 28, 29, 30 and 31, and not have a flex schedule option. Additionally, the University will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of the holiday. That week will also operate under a normal academic work year schedule, open July 1, 2, 3 and 5, and not have a flex schedule option.
