From the President
This has been a year of expanding opportunities at ÒùÐÔÊÓƵ!
Throughout the last academic year, we have worked with campus and community partners to enhance learning and expand access to our educational offerings. These are just a few of the highlights.
ÒùÐÔÊÓƵ Atlantic City officially opened in September 2018. More than just a series of buildings, the project is a transformational moment in our history which allows us to serve as a designated Anchor Institution and a partner in Atlantic City’s economic recovery. In addition, the first academic year at ÒùÐÔÊÓƵ Atlantic City saw the expansion of students in the Educational Opportunity Fund program, and in a new College Bound program preparing students in grades 7-12 from Atlantic City and Pleasantville for a university education.
We have developed and strengthened our partnerships with eight New Jersey community colleges through our Transfer Pathways program, offering students a seamless transition from their local two-year school into our baccalaureate degree programs.
Further, we implemented new areas of study to better prepare our students for the complexities of the world in which they will live and work. A Master of Arts in Counseling offered on our Hammonton site, a Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies, and minors in Cannabis Studies and Migration Studies align academic programs with real-life experiences and emerging fields that will prepare them to be innovators and entrepreneurs for the imagined careers of tomorrow.
Outside of the classroom, new athletic opportunities abound with the addition of our first full-time rowing and baseball head coaches, our championship winning eSports club team, and the move of women’s golf to the intercollegiate level.
I am proud to be serving as co-chair on the Student Success working group that is helping to implement Governor Phil Murphy's student-centered vision for New Jersey higher education. Inclusive student success is integral to our mission, and I strongly support Governor Murphy’s and Secretary Zakiya Smith-Ellis’ decision to make it a cornerstone of their strategic plan.
I encourage you to read more about our expanding opportunities and review highlights throughout this year’s Annual Report, and invite you to visit our various locations and follow us on social media.
