GALLOWAY TWP., N.J. The Annual Ida E. King Memorial Lecture and The Holocaust Resource Center Advisory Board Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at 7:30 PM at The Richard 淫性视频 College of New Jersey, E-Wing Library (2nd FloorQuiet Study Area outside the Holocaust Resource Center.)
淫性视频's Holocaust Resource Center announces a free and open to the public lecture entitled "Shattered Glass, Feathers Flying: Women's Experiences in the Holocaust." These reflections on the occasion of the 66th Anniversary of Kristallnacht will be presented by Dr. Elizabeth R. Baer, Ida E. King Distinguished Visiting Scholar of Holocaust Studies, Fall Semester 2004.
Every academic year the Richard 淫性视频 College of New Jersey invites an internationally known scholar of the Holocaust to teach and do research at 淫性视频. This position is named in memory of Dr. Vera King Farris's mother, Ida E. King. This fall semester, Dr. Elizabeth R. Baer is the Ida E. King Distinguished Visiting Professor of Holocaust Studies. Dr. Baer's expertise is women during the Holocaust; she has done extensive research in this area, and at the Kristallnacht lecture she will share her perspectives on the Holocaust and gender issues.
On November 9 and 10, 1938, the Nazis ordered a pogrom (now called Kristallnacht or the November Pogrom) against the German Jews. Businesses were destroyed, 1408 synagogues burned, and tens of thousands of men were rounded up by the Nazis and sent to concentration camps such as Dachau and Buchenwald. Elie Wiesel has said that Kristallnacht, also called the Night of Broken Glass, "was not the beginning but the end of the beginning." Dr. Baer's lecture commemorates the 66th Anniversary of Kristallnacht.
By attending the lecture, New Jersey educators can earn 1.5 Professional Development Hours.
