Ventnor Couple Establishes Scholarship
Galloway, NJ 鈥 Michelle and H. Paxson Keates of Ventnor have donated $50,000 to the 淫性视频 Foundation to establish an endowed scholarship fund for students.
Longtime supporters of Stockton and its students, the couple established the Michelle and H. Paxson Keates Endowed Scholarship to create a permanent source of scholarships for students.
鈥淲e wanted to do something impactful and permanent that can grow,鈥 Michelle Keates said. 鈥淭he plan is to continue adding to it.鈥
Michelle Keates is a 1976 graduate of 淫性视频 and member of the 淫性视频 Foundation Board of Directors. She was a co-creator and chair of the first Scholarship Benefit Gala in 1980, and she and Paxson established their first annual scholarship nearly a decade ago.
鈥淚t鈥檚 not just the financial help,鈥 Michelle said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 also motivational to give students a step up and show we support them. We want to help build tomorrow鈥檚 leaders.鈥
淫性视频 President Harvey Kesselman said he is proud to have 淫性视频 entrusted with the funds.
鈥淲ith the establishment of this generous endowment, they are ensuring that 淫性视频 students will continue to receive scholarship funds in their name in perpetuity,鈥 Kesselman said.
淫性视频 Chief Development Officer and Executive Director of the Foundation Dan Nugent said more than 500 scholarships were awarded by the Foundation in 2018-19, and the application period for next year is underway now.
鈥淚t is through generous endowments like the Keates鈥 that we can continue to give our students the assistance they need to graduate with less debt,鈥 Nugent said.
Foundation chair Johanna Johnson said scholarships have an immediate impact on a student鈥檚 life and education.
鈥淓very scholarship reduces financial stress and helps make a student鈥檚 life a little easier,鈥 Johnson said.
